Destiny 2: Forsaken Includes a PS4 Exclusive Exotic Weapon

The announcement of Destiny 2‘s Forsaken expansion has reinvigorated the game’s community much like the original Destiny‘s The Taken King expansion did in 2015. And that’s not all that’s stayed consistent in the franchise. Bungie has now revealed its plans for exclusive PlayStation 4 content included with Forsaken, such as the addition of a second platform exclusive Exotic Weapon. If anyone thought Destiny 2‘s initial struggles might lead to a softening of the PS4 content partnership, here’s your answer.

According to the announcement, much like the original release of Destiny 2, Forsaken will feature a PS4-exclusive Strike, Exotic weapon, jumpship, and gear set per class. None of the exclusives have yet to be officially unveiled in detail, what with the expansion still being over two and a half months away, though there’s always the possibility that one of the already teased exotics will end up being the exclusive. At the very least it won’t be the Ace of Spades since Cayde-6’s hand-cannon has a weapon ornament bundled with pre-orders on all three platforms.

The last exciting bit of news coming out of the reveal of Forsaken‘s PS4 exclusives is that all prior exclusives, from Destiny 2 through Warmind, will be released for all platforms come Forsaken‘s launch.

The original release of Destiny 2 also included four exclusives for PS4: the Lake of Shadows Strike, the City Apex jumpship, the Borealis Exotic sniper rifle, and the Retribution Crucible map. Curse of Osiris added another exclusive Crucible map in Wormhaven. Lastly, Warmind added another exclusive Strike in Hellas Basin, wherein Zavala leads a team into a Vex tomb that’s being pillaged by Cabal. All listed content will be open for PC and Xbox One players come September 4, including some additional armor that has also been exclusive on PS4.

Meanwhile, the cry for Bungie and Activision to end the practice of platform-exclusive content continues unabated. It’s unlikely that the partnership could be ended for the duration of Destiny 2‘s lifespan, but hope remains that it could end by Destiny 3.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The Forsaken expansion launches on September 4 across all supported platforms.
